Weblog: A New Adventure

2024-07-18

Like all hyperfixations this website business feels like the start of something big. But this also feels like something else. Not something new but something old. A nostalgia for a different past I never lived. The smallweb is filled with nostalgia for things that never quite existed. It all feels kind of time shifted, are we in the past or future, going back or forward?

Maybe that perspective shift is what's really the value in all of this. A chance to prove that the way things turned out wasn't inevitable, and therefore not indestructible either. Maybe in a few days this will all lie abandoned; after all I don't really know who or what this is all for. But I have a hunch there is far more to find in this tangled forest of diy sites than in all the scorched corporate web. Maybe not more in volume but more in value. I guess there's only one way to find out.
